Joe Williams

Joe Williams is a historian and translator specialising in discourse, media, and nationalism. He holds an MA in Translation Studies and is currently completing a PhD in History, focusing on how print media and state institutions shaped narratives of national identity in 1930s Portugal. Alongside his academic work, he has over six years of experience producing podcasts on literature, culture, and politics, with a particular interest in the history of culture and intellectual expression and how language is conditioned by its socio-political context.

His current work explores the intersection of artificial intelligence, economic change, and public discourse, with a focus on how emerging technologies are reshaping debates around work, inequality, and Universal Basic Income. Drawing on his background in discourse analysis and intellectual history, he aims to bring greater clarity and critical depth to contemporary conversations about AI and society, making them more accessible and meaningful to a wider audience.
